About the product

Description

20 Liter Jerry Can system includes spout and spout adapter. All of our Wavian Jerry Can systems come with an EPA, DOT, C. A. R. B. approved spout. We have also added an adapter since some gasoline powered vehicles need a smaller spout to fit in the filler. The adapter sits on the spout and needs to be turned clockwise until it snaps into place. The spout needs to be pushed to start the flow. The weight of the gasoline helps to open the spout to facilitate an easy quick pour. All Wavian products have a 2 year warranty against manufacturers defects. Fully paint-coated inside and outside. Have a full, internal breather pipe for splash-proof pouring. The highest quality Jerry can out there. Original Mil Spec. DOT, EPA and CARB approved. Comes with a safety spout attached and also has an adapter for vehicles with smaller filler receivers. Manufactured from 0. 9mm Cold Rolled Steel ( DC 04 EN 10130). Dual pan construction. Unique wide channel breather for better smoother pouring. Seam welded for extra strength. Three Handle Configuration. Leak-proof Bayonet Closure. Locking pin in cap. Strengthened hinge on cap to prevent accidental bending when closing. Cap designed to hold open when discharging the can. Lined inside with fuel resistant Rezol enamel to prevent rusting. Painted exterior epoxy polyester powder coat. Manufactured and tested to comply with the following standards: DOT, EPA , C. A. R. B. , DIN 7274 and BAM – GGR001. Australian Standard – AS 2906. German Standard-TUV/GS. Swedish Standard-SP. UN-Dangerous goods approval.

I purchased one Jerry Can initially to get familiar, a good quality lockable mount is critical too (mine is US built). Later, duplicated purchase as we travel cross country. The fuel can seals well, though the attachment end during storage is open to insects and weather, I put a 5 mil heavy glove over it to address this issue. Pours much slower than I’d like but hasn’t spilled.

In my set up, I can refill without removing from RV. Only really needed to use once, but the peace of mind is huge, my RV only holds 26 gallons, with diesel you want to leave 4-5 above empty, at 13 mpg average, I now have added 125+ miles of spare fuel. I’d buy again. Welded Seams is quality, others crimp and vulnerable to leaking.

PS: I also bought a yellow plastic van at Harbor Freight and the spout seal fails during pour, scrap that!!

But steel is not perfect. as steel goes the Justrite can may be better overall, but it’s round and takes up floor space.
I got an all metal spout. It’s messier then the stock metal / plastic spout. We’ll see. The can will dent and the paint will chip, but I still like it better than plastic.

The price on these just keeps going up. Don’t wait. Get one now. Fact is, these are outstanding jerry cans. We’ve had a few different ones, and the Wavian are the best. Well constructed out of excellent materials. They hold up extremely well. They follow the original design that was proven to work. It’s a shame they cost so much. When I purchased my first one for about $70, I thought I paid a little too much, but I was happy because the quality was so high. Now they’re running over $100, and, dang it, they’re good, but I’m not sure they’re that good. Still, single best gas can, and best jerry can, that there is.

I had to file the cams for engaging the spout. This seems to be common. Of course it’s better than having a loose spout. The aluminum rivet that acts as a hinge for the cap could be solid instead of hollow. Overall it seems worth 4 stars.

This is an extremely well-made gas can. We bough three of these and three Walmart Chinese Knock-offs and there simply is no comparison. These cans are much more robust, sturdy, and heavy made. For those on the fence, go to the Wavian website and they have a video of customers running over a can with their SUV and throwing it down the side of a hill. Not only did it hardly dent the can, it still didn’t leak and was still fully functional.

The only negative is the high cost. These cans are easily 3 times the price of a plastic or steel knock-off can. So for those who are planning to only rarely use the can, there are definitely netter values. However, if you are like us and prefer to only buy something once and appreciate exceptionally well-made products, this can is for you. It will likely outlive most people and possibly their kids. Also think it would be an excellent investment for Ranches, Farms, active campers and off-road enthusiasts. Another positive of these cans is you can easily stack them while you really cannot plastic cans (though you can the Chinese knock-offs).

I agree with other reviewers that the compliant spout isn’t great… but they are great in ANYONES can so I don’t hold that against Wavian. Just buy the flexible spout as part of your original investment.

This is my first purchase of a Jerry can, and I am impressed with what I received. I have a bunch of plastic gas cans which frankly make me quite nervous. I had one plastic can that the seam split under the handle so gas got all over your hands when pouring. The lib style nozzles on these plastic cans actually causes more spills than they prevent because the design is so poor and just gets worse as it ages. Those problems are all behind me now. I have also purchased the Jerry Can flexible spout, which is a must have, although the californite style one that came with the Wavian can is adequate and not so bad. It is just a lot easier to pour the gasoline with the flexible spout. I fully expect these cans to outlast me and keep working well into my son’s adulthood. I just bought a couple more, but I see that there seems to suddenly be a shortage of these cans due to the pandemic, so I had to buy a different model. This one is out of stock.

The spout that comes with it doesn’t quite fit properly. The mechanism doesn’t lock in fully…at least not on mine. But that’s ok because I ordered the sold separately, quality nozzle knowing the fed compliant one this company is required to sell with it takes away from the cans appeal and function. The government designed nozzle defeats the purpose of a jerry can. That being said though at least make sure the compliant one properly fits especially for the asking price of this product. So I recommend spending the extra cash for the “accessory nozzle” . It makes all the difference in the use and look of this can.
I’ll probably keep the she’itte one as a back up and end up tossing it one day. That is of course after saving the gasket from it, the only useful part of it. Awesome can when all said and done. Get one now before inflation goes up and up and in a few months they’ll have to sell them for $125. It might be close to that to fill it too. LGB!

The included nozzle wouldn’t latch. I ordered 3 cans and none of them did. If you press hard enough, you can force the latch down, but after a few seconds it pops open.

I ordered a non-CARB-compliant nozzle at the same time I ordered these. It latched perfectly with a nice positive lock. I wasn’t planning on using the original nozzles in the first place, so this doesn’t negatively impact me, but it’s something to be aware of.

My only other complaint is if you use the center carry handle, there’s a sharp piece of plastic that will poke you.

Other than that, it’s a great product and I’m glad I bought it.

  9. Michael

Just spend the money and get the best. All others are just going to dent and leak.

  10. Christi

The can is nice overall, but the welds are extremely sloppy (spatter and globs all over the place), and the can came in all scratched and dinged up (it was just placed into an oversized box so it tumbled around during shipping).
